Wexford will be wrapped up in the magic of Christmas from November 25th with a 40-day extravaganza of festivities for all the family. Wexford Winterland kicks off with a giant festive parade which will traverse along the bridge and into the town transforming Wexford with a riot of colour, sound and spectacle with scrooge and over 100 festively attired performers from Bui Bolg set to take part and of course the main man himself Santa will be on hand to officially switch on the Christmas lights all on the afternoon of Saturday, November 26th.
Festivities will be in full flow with a magically located Ice Rink and Christmas trees set against the backdrop of Wexford Harbour featuring a stunning lightshow. The captivating Christmas Express Train will trundle through the towns twinkling light streets and offers an enchanting experience for young and the not so young.
The Bullring is considered to be the beating heart of Wexford Town. For hundreds of years, the area has been home to a bustling market place, the log cabins inside the marketplace will feature a variety of traditional Christmas gifts. All in all, the marketplace has changed very little since it was first built back in 1877. The area will also be home to an enchanting outdoor movie venue where classic Christmas movies will be shown on the big screen while the audience enjoys hot chocolate, crepes, and mulled wine. The Bull Ring also hosts a number of free music events during the festive period.

Enniscorthy Castle is being transformed into Santa’s Enchanted Castle from November 24th to December 23rd. Families can venture through the magical Santa’s Enchanted Castle, exploring the Noisy Elves Workshop and Magical Time Machine which has been transported all the way from the North Pole. Visit Santa’s Post Box to post your letter and sneak a peek at the Elves’ and Santa’s bedroom and sample some yummy treats from Mrs Claus Traditional Sweet Shop.
For the foodies The Happy Pear twins will host a festive cookery evening on December 22nd in Enniscorthy and in the wonderful Johnstown Castle a sumptous festive afternoon tea will take place from December 13th to 15th, Santa will also be in residence at Johnstown during the weekends of December 10th and 11th and the 17th and 18th.
There will be festive food and gift markets open right across the county with wonderful markets in New Ross from November 21st and Santa’s arrival up the River Barrow on the same date, he will also take up residence at the Dunbrody Famine Ship until Christmas Eve. In North Wexford the town’s lights will be officially switched on in the afternoon on November 26th with stage performances and entertianment from 7pm to 9pm and the nineth annual Gorey Christmas Market will take place on Main Street on Sunday, November 27th from 12 -4pm.
