RTE’s Sean O’Rourke Show to broadcast live from the Kennedy Summer School
The RTE Radio One show ‘Today with Sean O’Rourke’ is set to broadcast live from the Dunbrody Experience on the quay as part of the Kennedy Summer School on Friday, September 9th, 2016.
Sean and his production team will interview the orgahinsers of the Kennedy Summer School from the Dunbrody Visitor Centre Café along with some of the keynote speakers who are all taking part in the Kennedy Summer School programme of events.
Sepaking about the live broadcast, currator fo the Kennedy Summer School programme, Noel Whelan said, “We are delighted to be welcoming Sean O’Rouke and the RTE staff to New Ross, the show has over 325,000 listeners and we look forward to sharing the details of the 2016 Summer School with them and showcasing New Ross.”
Presenter Sean O’Rourke is set to interview the former Governor of Maryland and Democratic Presidential Contender, Martin O’Malley, the United States Ambassador to Ireland Kevin F. O’Malley, Chief Strategist, Bernie Sanders 2016 Presidential Campaign Tadd Devine and Boston Globe Columnist Kevin Cullen.
The 2016 Kennedy Summer School will be held in New Ross on Thursday 8th, Friday 9th and Saturday 10th of September. It will be a festival of discussion debate and reflection on Irish and American History, Politics and Culture.
The line up of speakers this year includes An Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald TD and other leading Irish politicians, the Former Governor of Maryland Martin O’Malley, the Garda Commissioner Noirin O’ Sullivan along with a number of senior U.S. Presidential campaign strategists and commentators.
Minister of Public Expenditure and Reform Paschal Donohoe is set to participate in a session on the 2017 budget and disucss Brexit and its potential impact for Ireland. He will be joined by Sinn Féin TD Eoin O’Broin, Fianna Fáil TD and Chair of the Dàil Finance Committee John McGuinness and Independent Senator Lynn Ruane
Events at the Summer School will also include a keynote address on the life and work of the US Playwright Eugene O Neill who’s family heritage is local to New Ross, a staging of the comedian Paddy Cullivan’s one-man show “ The Ten Dark Secrets of 1916”.
There will also be a restaging of the iconic 1963 JFK Tea Party at Dunganstown on Friday 8th Sept, which will be hosted this year by celebrity chef Edward Hayen and Baker Catherine Leyden.
