A weekend filled with free music concerts from artists including Seo Linn, Paddy Casey and Cry Before Dawn plus an action packed programme of family events is on offer at the eighth annual Gorey Market House Festival in Wexford this August Bank Holiday weekend.

The first of three open air concerts for the festival gets underway on July 29th with Seo Linn taking to the stage, on Saturday, July 30th Cry Before Dawn return to their Wexford roots and on Sunday, July 31st Paddy Casey will take to the stage on Gorey’s Main Street at the carnival atmosphere festival.

Formed in 1982, Cry Before Dawn became one of Ireland best loved bands, their two albums “Crimes Of Conscience” and Witness For The World” went double platinum and they developed a reputation for being one of Ireland’s most passionate live bands. They have strong Wexford roots and are excited to return to Wexford an entertain festival-goers at this free open air gig.

The Gorey Market House Festival is a vibrant mix of music, family fun, traditional and vintage markets, busking, food and crafts. Saturday boasts an action packed family fun day in Gorey Town Park, street theatre, magicians, stilt walkers, Kia Ora Mini farm, Pirates Cove Train, soccer, tag rugby, arts and crafts, face painting, live music and children’s cartoon characters.

Sunday offers a craft, vintage and artisan food market on Gorey’s Main Street so visitors can enjoy a real market town experience which includes live animals, vintage steam engines and great displays of local craft and food. Visitors can also enjoy art exhibitions at various locations throughout the town.

Rock N Roll at the Enniscorthy Rockin Food Fest

Enniscorthy Rock ‘n’ Roll Town Festival and Enniscorthy Food Festival now create the unique experience of a Rockin’ Food Festival  in Ennicorthy county, Wexford.

Food and music lovers will enjoy a plethora of fabulous entertainment for families, Rock ‘n’ Roll enthusiasts along with the best of Irish food, craft and design from July 29th to 31st July 2016.

Enniscorthy Rock ‘n’ Roll Town Festival is based on 1950s Rock ‘n’ Roll, Rockabilly and Rhythm ‘n’ Blues music and attracts visitors to the town from all over Ireland and across Europe. There is fun for all the family in the square with children’s carousel, face painting, balloon makers and an outdoor screened movie. 

 To keep energy levels up punters can enjoy a tapas trail, celebrity Chef cookery demonstrations and tastings with Chef Edward Hayden, a locally produced craft beer and cider exhibition along with a showcase of a variety of local produce and crafts from Wexford and beyond. 

Enniscorthy Rockin’ Food Festival offers an extensive FREE events programme with a choice of over 40 free events on offer, including live music gigs all weekend, Artisan Food, Craft and Beer Markets, Outdoor movie screenings, a Mad Hatters Afternoon Tea Party, Treasure Hunt, Magician & Punch and Judy Shows, Junior 1798 Rebel March, Ancient East Story telling and lots more.

The 1950’s trend will be to the fore with Rock ‘n’ Roll, Rockabilly and Rhythm ‘n’ Blues music and dancing on offer and keeping to the 1950’s trend and being the hometown of one Colm Toibin outdoor screenings of the movie ‘Brooklyn’ will also take place.


Pirates and Strongmen descend on Hook Lighthouse this August Bank Holiday

The world’s oldest working Lighthouse ‘Hook Lighthouse’ in county Wexford is set to host an August bank holiday festival with a difference this year as some of Ireland’s leading ‘Strongman’ competitors descend on the 800 year old lighthouse tower to compete for the title of the ‘Hook Strongman 2016’.

Over 15 competitors from all the around the country including the previous republic of Ireland strongest man, Italy’s strongest man and world-class power lifters will take part on Sunday, July 31st. Spectators will enjoy a series of six different gruelling challenge events including a keg toss, Atlas stone lifting and loading races in the challenge.

 Alongside the serious display of strength Hook Lighthouse is ensuing there is plenty of seaside and piratey fun on offer for all the family. Raggedy pirates from all over the peninsula take part in pirate battles for coveted traaasure.

 Free family fun lawn games will also be on offer for kids and adults alike with a weekend Barbeque with music and entertainment.
