The 28th annual Duncannon Sand Sculpting Festival will take place on Duncannon Beach in County Wexford from August 15 to 17. Professional Sand-sculptors will be onsite from Monday, August 11 creating giant sand-sculpted masterpieces.
The festival will kick off on Friday with a free giant beach party to mark the grand opening of sand sculptures from 7pm with music by DJ Noel Lynch. Fun beach games and competitions will be on offer on the beach and a huge fireworks display after dark lighting up the village.
Festivities recommence on Saturday with a Teddy Bears Picnic on the green, performances from the Barrack Street band at 3pm and Wrestling on the green at 6pm. The much-anticipated Sand-Sculpture exhibition will open to visitors from 10am.
Family fun events will take place on beautiful Duncannon beach throughout Saturday offering Tug o War, Bungee Trampolining, Water Zorbing an obstacle course and more.
The family fun events will continue on Duncannon beach on Sunday with the Sand-Sculpting exhibition continuing from 10am. Locals and visitors can register for the weekends main even the very serious amateur sand sculpting competition from 2 to 4pm. Teams of four can register on the day.
