Strawberry Celebrations Take off in Wexford

Strawberry Festival 2014 is gearing up for a fun filled week of events from June 14th until June 22nd in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford.  A vibrant week where Co Wexford celebrates the famous Wexford strawberry- to be devoured whilst listening to great music, taking in some art and literary events or simply browsing the food and artisan markets. All ages are well catered to with an exciting programme that highlights the best Wexford has to offer.

Offering the best of Irish musical talent from national names to well know Wexford locals- Ryan Sheridan, Wallis Bird and Damian Dempsey are taking to the Main Stage in The Big Red Barn, Abbey Square Shopping Centre, Enniscorthy over the weekend. Supporting acts include the winners of Wexfactor Lucy Doyle and Eoin Groake.

Join the Princesses competing to be the 2014 Queen when they wander through the fabulous food markets and speciality stalls, the artisan marketplace and free children’s events such as the Teddy Bears Picnic, Roddy Doyle and Aspills stories or come to meet them at the Strawberry Ball, the Carlsberg Pub Talent or having the craic at the Berry Best Hat at the Dog Track. Market Square will be a hive of activity with Disney Discos, St Aidan’s Gospel Choir, buskers and the grand crowning of the Festival Queen.

The All-Ireland Farmers Market will take over the streets with the finest national offering of producers and suppliers all showcasing their wares.

Grab your partner by the hand for the Cowboys and Cowgirls Family Disco in The Big Red Barn on Sunday 22nd which will be hosted by Voice of Ireland star Padraig Byrne.

“A Taste of Wexford Strawberries” sees chefs and home-cooks compete to impress the Queen as she awards the winners their Bord Bia and Wexford Strawberry Growers Trophies. 

Regardless of whether strawberries are for you, or whether you are young or old, this Festival is definitely the place to BE!
