It’s all about promoting Safety at Sea, enjoying sealife and coastal flora and fauna, on the stunning southeast coastline this weekend.
The annual Maritime Matters festival kicks off at Hook Lighthouse on Saturday and there are fun events for all the family on offer until Monday the 7th.
Highlights include a display on the lawn by the Irish Coastguard, the RNLI, the Irish whales and Dolphin group, Irish Water Safety, the Hook Sub Aqua Club and a visit from Rescue 117 helicopter.
Wexford Crafts Market will showcase their wares and Claiomh Medievel Knights, will put on a medival show every hour all weekend. Residnet artist rose will be on hand to help all budding artists and on the lawn a variety of fun for all the family is on offer including puppet shows, a teddy berars picnic, cookery demonstrations and games and much more all to the sounds of a DJ bringing you the sounds of Summer.
Sunday afternoon will see a pig roasted on a spit and the Republic of Ireland Strongest Man competition will provide entertainment. A BBQ will be on offer all day Monday and a seafood cookery deomstration with celebrity chef JJ Healy will round off the weekends events.
