One of the highlights includes the unveiling of the legendary Nickey Rakard statue in Wexford town on March 19 – the Mayor will be unveiling a commemorative statue of the great Wexford hurler Nickey Rackard on Bank Holiday Monday 19th March in Selskar square.
Nickey Rackard is regarded as perhaps one of the greatest hurlers of all time. With two all Ireland titles, four Leinster titles a national hurling league title and a Railway cup title his status as an all time great is self evident.
Rackard played his club hurling with Rathnure where he enjoyed a very successful time over the years. Named in the GAA Hurling team of the century his legend lives on.
The event will start at 2.30 pm and will include guest speakers and entertainment.
